Annual Peoples Gas Holiday Market

Light Up Night marks the annual opening of the Peoples Gas Holiday Market. Inspired by the original German Christkindlmarkt, the Holiday Market creates a picturesque shopping village in Market Square - located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. Peruse local and national vendors housed in vintage, wooden chalets selling one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. Plus, receive a complimentary photo with Santa if you make a donation to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, and enjoy festive entertainment by Pittsburgh arts organizations on the Market Square stage.

Complete with flurrying snow, a colossal Christmas tree and magic tricks galore, this holiday spectacular features over 100 dancers, 200 costumes and Tchaikovsky’s exultant score. Since its 1892 premiere, The Nutcracker has held a special place in holiday traditions all over the world. PBT adds its own spin on the time and place with a turn-of-the-century setting incorporating Pittsburgh’s own landmarks, historical figures and personality. Each performance features a unique casting combination, giving regulars the chance to see a variety of dancers perform iconic roles like Marie, the Nephew, the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.

Santa Trolley

Pennsylvania Trolley Museum’s stockings are hung by the trolleys with care and with the knowledge that Santa Claus will soon be there! The merriest man himself will be visiting the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum during their annual Santa Trolley. Visit the Museum during November 24-26, December 2-3, 9-10 and 16-17 for this spectacular event that runs from 10AM-5PM with the last trolley departing at 4:00PM. Guests will have the opportunity to climb aboard a restored streetcar that will transport them around the museum’s 2 mile track.
