Forks of the Ohio Homeschool Series - LIFE AT FORT PITT AND SOLDIER HIKE

$10 per student, per class
The Fort Pitt Museum and Point State Park invite homeschool students in in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades to participate in a series of in-depth classes related to history and environmental studies. Classes will be both hands-on and minds-on and will include reading and writing activities, student-led discussions, and take-home assignments for students to continue their learning after class.
LIFE AT FORT PITT AND SOLDIER HIKE
- Students will research the lives of 18th century soldiers, including evidence of their daily lives and government issued supplies.
- Students will interact with a Fort Pitt Museum costumed soldier to discuss frontier life, which includes pitching an 18th century reproduction tent (weather dependent).
- Students will learn basic map and compass reading skills and practice those skills on a hike around Point State Park. Students will also learn about essential items that they should always take on a hike.
