Opening Season Parade - Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

Get ready for our first-ever, socially-distanced Opening Season Parade at the Zoo! The parade will include appearances from your favorite princesses, characters, mascots, dancers from the Shovlin Academy of Irish Dance, and more. The parade will kick off at Forest Passage and travel along the Zoo path, ending on the Kids Kingdom patio. Make sure to arrive early enough to snag a socially-distanced spot along the parade route. Included with general Zoo admission!

Light In Transmission - Pittsburgh Glass Center at Pittsburgh Glass Center

This exhibition is a survey of the diverse range of light art within the shared medium of both neon and plasma sculpture curated by Percy Echols II, an artist, creator of the podcast “Taming Lighting” and PGC’s first recipient of the Ron Desmett Memorial Award for Imagination with Glass. Funded by The Fisher Fund of The Pittsburgh Foundation, this exhibition features the work of 15 artists.

Drive-In Movies at Boyce Park

Join us this spring at Boyce Park for our Family Drive-In Movie Series! Gates open at 6:00 pm and the show will start at dusk. Gates will close when the movie starts. This event is free and will be first-come, first-served. All attendees must be in a vehicle. Capacity is limited to 100 vehicles per movie. Once the parking area reaches capacity, we will announce on our Facebook page and Allegheny Alerts.

Streaming | Lyrids Meteor Shower 2021 - April 21 at 9pm Pacific from Lowell Observatory

Every year in late April, the Earth passes through the debris left by Comet Thatcher, and this creates the Lyrid meteor shower. Join Lowell Observatory at 9 pm AZ/PT on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, for a live stream of the Lyrids, hosted by Research Assistant Megan Gialluca. We’ll use the All-Sky Camera at the Lowell Discovery Telescope to hunt for meteors together. After that, you’ll be ready to find more on your own, when the Lyrid meteor shower peaks in the hours before dawn.
