CampBioE 2.0 spans five weeks, with each week tailored to specific age groups and interests. Weeks 1 and 2 (June 22–26 and July 6–10) are exclusive to high school students and focus on 3D printing and bioprinting, including converting commercial 3D printers into bioprinters to fabricate vascular scaffolds using hydrogel-based biomaterials. Week 3 (July 20–24) welcomes middle and high school scholars for a broad bioengineering experience, while Weeks 4 and 5 (July 27–31 and August 3–7) are designed for elementary students. Across Weeks 3–5, scholars engage in a variety of STEM+ activities such as building bones from unconventional materials, experimenting with ferrofluids, and designing scaffolds for wound repair—offering an inspiring entry point into bioengineering at every grade level.
Hosted at the University of Pittsburgh Community Engagement Center in Homewood, the camp runs Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with light breakfast and lunch provided. Designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence, CampBioE 2.0 emphasizes teamwork, real-world problem solving, and inclusive learning. We aim to create a welcoming, bias-free environment for students from all backgrounds to explore science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine.
Fee waivers are available for families who qualify!
