Nature provides unending inspiration in shapes, colors, symmetry and patterns. Using the Earthworks and Land Art movements in America, students will fine-tune their exploration and observation skills through meaningful written and group exercises while learning about the many resources the earth provides us to create works of art. We will also explore the temporary quality in nature, teaching us how things change over time. (Some art is meant to change and decay and disappear - what a cool concept!) Taking theses ideas, students will develop them each day with hands-on activities including sunprint flags, rock painting, observational drawing, haiku poetry, mud brick construction and a collaborative garden installation. Camp is geared for children 9-13 years.
