An Evening of Bacharach - Supporting Music in the Schools, is an annual concert, conceived and produced by Billy Goodness, Rochester native and national recording and touring drummer, to raise funds to support music in our schools. "Unfortunately when school districts are faced with cutting costs the Arts are all too often the first to see a reduction. This is my way of trying to help."
The concert will feature the music of Burt Bacharach - an American composer, songwriter, record producer, and pianist who is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential figures of 20th-century popular music. He composed hundreds of pop songs, many in collaboration with lyricist Hal David. His songs include Do You Know The Way To San Jose, That's What Friends Are For, What The World Need Now Is Love, Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head, Walk On By, Close To You, and countless others. Bacharach's music is characterized by unusual chord progressions and time signature changes, influenced by his background in jazz, and uncommon selections of instruments for small orchestras.
In addition to special guest performances from Russell Thomplins. Jr, (lead singer of The Stylistics) and Kearstin Piper Brown (world renowned soprano), some of our own Monroe County music students will be onstage showcasing their talents. The concert will also feature an orchestra along with members of Bad Sneakers, Jimmy Richmond, Julia Weatherholtz, Lisa Denise, Tyler Owens, and Zahyia Rolle.
You do not want to miss this very special evening of music and your chance to support our local music students.
