Join Meadowcroft staff for an exclusive walk through the seldom seen parts of the property to learn about the flora and fauna that prehistoric people used for food and survival and why those plants were chosen to turn Meadowcroft from an abandoned strip mine into a thriving woodland ecosystem.
This staff-led walk and is included with the price of regular admission and leaves from the Visitors Center at noon. Please arrive at the Meadowcroft Visitor Center no later than 11:45 a.m. to participate. Tours of the National Historic Landmark Meadowcroft Rockshelter, where people camped 16,000 years ago, will be available throughout the day. Also visit the museum's recreated 16th century Monongahela Indian Village, 18th century Frontier Trading Post, and 19th century rural village.
90 minute, 2 mile moderate walk through hilly terrain. This walk is NOT wheelchair or stoller friendly; pets are NOT permitted on museum grounds.
Admission is $15 for adults, $14 for seniors 65+; $7 for students with valid ID; Youth 17 and under are FREE, Heinz History Center Members are FREE; military discount available.
